A workshop titled “How to use songs and chants to motivate young learnersto improve their listening and speaking skills” was conducted by Ms.Heemal and Ms.Nitika for teachers of English. On 29 th June 2011 in Shaheed Rajpal DAV Public School, Dayanand vihar.The workshop introduced ways to use songs to reinforce grammar, vocabulary, and patterns used in everyday language. Teachers from different schools actively participated and learnt to design and practice activities which they can take back to their classrooms.
Another workshop to teach ways to improve writing skills of students and teacherswas conducted on 30th June 2011, by Ms Heemal Handoo Bhat to help middle and seniorschool English teachers to become aware of the different writing skills. In the workshop she introduced different strategies and techniques related to writing with a student-centred approach. Ms.Heemal , also went on to show teachers how to breakdown the writing act into manageable parts for students.
Nursery Wing Workshop
Nursery wing of S.R.D.A.V. Public School, Dayanand Vihar organized three days workshop for nursery teachers. It was also attended by teachers of many other D.A.V Schools. The main objective of the workshop was to apprise the teachers on “Early Childhood Education”.
First workshop conducted by Dr. Madhavi Menon (resource person, N.C.E.R.T) ON June 30, 2011 focused on ‘Enhancing Creativity’ Its objective was to enliven learning-teaching environment in the classroom. It strived towards bringing out the innate needs of the children. Children can be motivated to express their own interpretation of the world. Many interesting teaching aids, to arouse the interest of the children were also suggested like using of puppets, incorporating theatre activities, dance, music etc.
Second workshop was conducted by Dr. Sandhya (Resource person, N.C.E.R.T.) ON
July 1, 2011 which was on ‘Action Research’. The aim of the workshop was to find out solutions in a systematicmanner.
Third workshop was on Cognitive Development in early childhood through various activities and games.
The three days workshop was a very enriching experience for the teachers as they learnt various new innovative teaching-learning practices.
SEMINAR ON HAM RADIO FOR CLASS X
Ham Radio (Amateur Radio) operators are radio enthusiasts authorized by the government to do two way world wide radio communications as a hobby using ‘personal’ wireless equipment in allotted amateur radio frequency. This is a hobby regulated by he government to ensure non-inference to other professional and governmental radio communication networks. Except for the licensing and other regulatory aspects, government has no role in functions of Ham Radio. Details...
